Purpose - Why We exist

To take as many people to heaven in as Christlike condition as possible.

Mission - what we do

In Christian community, we assist each other in the journey of discovering our unique, significant roles within the Kingdom of God, while also serving those outside of our Church thus empowering them to fulfill their God-given destiny.

Values: River of Life is committed to embody eight core values while carrying out its mission:

  • A lifestyle of humility knowing that all spiritual progress is the result of God’s grace. While God’s Spirit may be poured out on all flesh, He gives grace to the humble.
  • Worship that is passionate, reverent, expressive and creative in glorifying God.
  • Prayer that passionately seeks the Lord’s presence and intercedes for others.
  • The Word and the Spirit, where the truth and teachings in the Bible are merged with the supernatural power and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
  • Caring for others, empowered by the Holy Spirit with the love of God, striving to take captive every motivation not found in sacrificial love.
  • Developing servant leaders rooted in Christlike character by identifying, training and deploying people at all levels according to their gifting.
  • Community where relationships test our maturity in Christ and we come alongside one another to strengthen, build up and encourage each other.
  • Christ Centered unity, in answer to Christ’s prayer in John 17. Where we differ doctrinally with other Christians, we purpose to maintain the “unity of the Spirit” until we all come to the “unity of faith” (Eph 4:3, 13).

Vision - Where we are going

Christlikeness
Since nothing pleases the Father more than His Son, it is our desire to be conformed to the character, power and love of Christ. We believe this is God’s vision for man, to make us in the image of Christ (Gen 1:26; Rom 8:29). Thus we measure success not by what we are before man, but how Christlike we become.

Statement of Faith

HOLY BIBLE

We affirm the Holy Bible as the Inspired Word of God, and as the only basis for our beliefs. We believe that only the 66 books of the Bible are inspired, and therefore the inerrant Word of God. It is the final authority for all we believe and how we are to live (Matthew 5:18; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:16).

 

TRINITY

We believe that the One, True God exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that these, being One God, are equal in deity, power and glory.
We believe that God not only created the world, but also upholds, sustains, governs and providentially directs all that exists and that He will bring all things to their proper consummation in Christ Jesus to the glory of His Name (Rev 1:4-6; Eph 1:9-12).

 

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. That Jesus was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a substitute sacrifice for sinners.

By the blood of His cross Jesus bought us eternal redemption and eternal life. He was raised bodily on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father, there to intercede for the saints (Matthew 1:18-25; Romans 8:34; Eph. 1:1; Col. 1:15-23).

 

SALVATION: We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone. No ordinance, ritual, work or any other activity on the part of man is required in order to be saved, and any person can enter into a saving relationship with God by confessing the Lordship of Jesus Christ and believing in His complete victory over death. This same grace from God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, empowers us to repent from our sins and be forgiven and cleansed, sanctifying us by enabling us to do what is pleasing in God's sight in order that we might be progressively conformed to the image of Christ (Eph. 2:8-10, Rom 10:9, Acts 3:19,1 Peter 1:1-2).

 

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit, in Whom also we are sealed for the day of redemption. At or subsequent to conversion, the Spirit fills, empowers and anoints believers for ministry and witness.

We also believe that signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament, are operative today and are designed to testify to the presence of the Kingdom and to empower and edify the church to fulfill its calling and mission (Matthew 3:11; Acts 1:8; Galatians 3:1-5).

 

HEAVEN & HELL

We believe that when the Christian dies he/she will forever dwell in blissful fellowship with God.

We also believe that when the unbeliever dies he/she is consigned to hell, there to await the Day of Judgment when he/she shall be punished with eternal separation from the presence of God (Psalm 16:12; 2 Corinthians 5:4-10; Revelation 20:11-15).

 

SECOND COMING

We believe in the literal Second Coming of Christ at the End of the Age to personally consummate His Kingdom. We also believe in prayer for a great End-Time Harvest of souls and the emergence of a victorious Church of unprecedented unity, purity and power in the Holy Spirit (Revelation 7:9-14; 2 Thessalonians 1:20-28).

 

WATER BAPTISM & THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are two ordinances of the church to be observed until the time of Christ's return. They are not a means of salvation, but are channels of God's sanctifying grace and blessing to the faithful in Christ Jesus (Matthew 3:13; Acts 2:37-39; Romans 6:1-4; Colossians 2:8-12; Luke 22:17-19; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

  
DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS. Discipleship groups are focused specifically on helping you grow in your relationship with Christ, with a strong emphasis on inter-personal relationships and accountability within a biblical context. EQUIPPING GROUPS. Equipping Groups are designed to help train and prepare you to fulfill your calling in God. These groups have a strong focus on teaching, discussion, and practical application. WELLNESS GROUPS. Wellness Groups are designed to help you find physical, mental, and emotional healing and wholeness through the compassion and power of Jesus Christ. MINISTRY GROUPS. Ministry Groups provide opportunities to exercise your gifts and passions by serving in various capacities at River of Life.
