OUR VISION (Where we are going):
CHRISTLIKENESS
Since nothing pleases the Father more than His Son, it is our desire to be conformed to the character, power and love of Christ. We believe this is God’s vision for man (Genesis 1:26, Romans 8:29). Thus we measure success not by what we are before man, but how Christlike we become (2 Corinthians 3:17-18).
OUR MISSION (What we do):
TAKE AS MANY PEOPLE TO HEAVEN IN AS CHRISTLIKE CONDITION AS POSSIBLE.
Our Mission is based on three key Scriptures:
Mathew 11:28-30: The Great Invitation
Mathew 22:37-40: The Great Commandment
Mathew 28:18-20: The Great Commission
OUR VALUES (What our community looks like):
- Humility, knowing all spiritual progress is by God’s grace (James 4:6).
- Worship that is passionate, reverent, expressive, and creative.
- Prayer that passionately seeks the Lord and intercedes for others.
- The Word and Spirit, merging biblical teaching with the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- Relationships that strengthen, encourage, and test our maturity in Christ.
- Developing Christlike leaders—identifying, training and sending them according to gifting.
- Christ-centered Unity with other Christians, seeking to maintain the “unity of the Spirit” until we reach “unity of faith” (Eph. 4:3, 13, John 17).
- Outreach with sacrificial love to a world in need.
Get Connected
MEET PEOPLE – GET INVOLVED IN A CONNECTION GROUP
Welcome - we’re excited to have you with us at River of Life! Relationships are incredibly important to our growth as believers in Christ. Hebrews 10:25 exhorts us to “not give up meeting together…” but to “…encourage one another.” Connection groups are a great way to get connected with other people who share your interests and can encourage you in your walk with the Lord. They also provide an intimate group where you can find healing and support in challenging times, and we encourage every ROL attender to become part of a connection group.
Make ROL your church home
We believe that every person who has received Jesus Christ as their
Lord and Savior is a member of the Body of Christ. At the same time,
the Word of God tells us that the Lord places us in the Body where
it pleases Him (1 Cor. 12). So, if you consider River of Life Ministries
your church home, it is important to visit with our Lead Pastor, Steve
Irwin (393-3709), and get acquainted. He will be able to explain in
greater detail the vision of River of Life and also answer any questions
you might have.
This is the first step to becoming a part of our family.
Again, welcome, and we’re glad you’re here!
Statement of Faith
HOLY BIBLE: We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God (2Peter 1:20-21), and is the only basis for our beliefs (2 Tim 3:16). We believe that the 66 books of the Bible are inspired by God, and therefore His inerrant Word. It is the final authority for all we believe and how we are to live. (John 17:17, Matt 5:18)
TRINITY: We believe that the One True God (Deut 6:4-5) exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that these, being One God, are equal in deity, power and glory (John 14:11, 26).
JESUS CHRIST: We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, that He was conceived and born of a virgin (Matt 1:18-25). He lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners. By the blood He shed on the cross, He bought us eternal redemption and eternal life (Col 1:15-20). He died, was physically raised back to life on the third day and ascended to the right hand of the Father, there to intercede for the saints (Rom 8:34).
SALVATION: We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone. No ordinance, ritual, work or any other activity on the part of man is required in order to be saved (Eph. 2:8-10). Any person can enter into a saving relationship with God by confessing the Lordship of Jesus Christ and believing in His complete victory over death (Rom 10:9). This same grace from God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, empowers us to repent from our sins and be forgiven and cleansed (Acts 3:19). The Holy Spirit sanctifies us by enabling us to do what is pleasing in God’s sight in order that we might be progressively conformed to the image of Christ (Rom 8:29).
BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes believers with the Holy Spirit (Matt 3:11). At or subsequent to conversion the Spirit fills, empowers and anoints believers, sealing them until the day of redemption of those who are in Christ (Acts 1:8, Eph 1:13-14). We also believe that signs and wonders, as well as all the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament (1 Cor 12:4-11), are operative today and are designed to testify to the presence of the Kingdom of God and to empower and edify individuals to fulfill their unique callings (Rom 8:26), and the church to fulfill the Great Commission (Acts 1:8; Gal 3:1-5).
HEAVEN & HELL: We believe that all will be judged for their decisions and actions (2 Cor 5:10). When the Christian dies he/she will forever dwell in blissful fellowship with God (Psalm 16:11). We also believe that when the unbeliever dies he/she will experience punishment in the lake of fire with eternal, conscious, and tormented eternal separation from God (Luke 1622-3, Rev 20:11-15).
SECOND COMING: We believe in, and eagerly await, the literal Second Coming of Jesus Christ at the end of the age to consummate His Kingdom (1 Thess 4:13-17). We believe in a great end-time harvest of souls and the emergence of a victorious Church of unprecedented unity, purity and power in the Holy Spirit (Rev 7:9-10, 2 Thess 2:8).
